Meet Nick.
Nick entered and won my first ever Graduation Session Giveaway. With the COVID pandemic taking the world by storm and cancelling all types of gatherings, I offered a 2020 graduate a graduation photo session as a way to celebrate their accomplishment.
Nick went to ASU as a Sports Journalism major and ended up graduating from the Cronkite School with a degree in Mass Communication and Media Studies. Prior to his senior year Nick was presented with an opportunity to work for the Melbourne Aces a professional baseball team in Australia. Realizing his Sports Journalism degree still required in-person credits, he discovered he could complete a Mass Communication and Media Studies degree entirely online. So he did, from Melbourne.
I really enjoyed hearing the excitement in Nick’s voice as he shared his plans to work his way up the Minor League Baseball world all while trying to grow as a broadcaster, both in baseball and other sports. Since the pandemic has cancelled the 2020 season, he plans to go back to Australia later this year in an expanded role to help grow the team's media footprint and continue calling games.
There is no doubt in my mind Nick will accomplish everything he sets his mind to. My hope is that these photos will be a keepsake for him and his family to look back on one day and say, remember when you first started your journey?
